Sharpen blades on my auger

Minnetonka

Recommended Posts

I was on Cass Lake last week and was working a sharp break. I went from 7 feet of water and went ten paces over to 3 feet of ice and drilled into the sand. My blades are now dull. Where is the best place in the twin cities to get blades sharpened?

I did the same thing 2 weeks ago. I run lazer blades and they can't be sharpened or at least locally so I just ordered new ones. One thing to consider is when I hit bottom it bound the auger or locked it up and about ripped the auger out of my hands. I bought new blades and got about a tank of gas of them and then the new blades wouldn't drill any longer. Multi blade auger are very sensitive to pitch angle so now I'm sending my auger in to have the pitch checked so I don't go through a third set.

what kind of blades are we talking about here as that makes a big difference in the answer you are going to get

If its a lazer your looking at new blades. If a chipper style such as the mag 2000 or a jiffy you can have it sharpened. This is the reason I wnet away from the lazer. It drills holes fast but the lakes I fish are pretty busy and with this stealth I run now I am not worried about dirty ice as much. I still watch for the sand though. Good luck.
