Sold my 8x16 wheel house this winter planning on starting a new one soon.Just have question with smooth aluminum siding. On my last house I used .040 sheets and I have seen .025 sheets and I was wondering if anybody has used .025 before and what they thought. I was wondering if .025 being cheaper and less weight would be worth it.

.040 min!! i used the .025 white painted stuff when i built the house in the fall, thought i would save a few bucks and lbs but its not worth it!! too hard to work with, bends easy, many waves and dont stiffen up the walls at all, my next houes may even have .062 alum!

Whats the cost and size of those .040 sheets? I'm just in the planning stages. I can do steel real reasonable but that has to be real heavy. Anyone know how much heavier a comparable size sheet is?

Thanks for all the replies that helps me make my decision. Sounds like it will be .040 aluminum siding again. Again, thanks for everybodies info. Hawg to answer your question the sheets are 4x8 price was $73 per sheet white only colored sheets are more. hope this answers your question. Hope to start on my new house this weekend 6.5x16 w/3' V. If I can figure out how to load pictures I will keep updating with the progress.

Hardwater, this is strictly my opinion but if you're going to all the work and expense you have ahead of you, you might consider indenting the wheels so you make a wider house. 6 1/2 feet is pretty skinny for bunks and move around room.
