I just ordered one of these online and had a quick question. Does the reel not engage when you start reeling in. I.e you flip the switch to make your cast to allow line to come out. Then does this reel not engage once you rotate the crank forward. Well this one doesnt and im not sure if that is normal or not. All the other calcuttas I have engage upon reeling.

Sorry for the dumb question, had to order online so Ic ouldnt play with it first.

Thank dano, I had to purchse online since nobody seemed to have a display to check out.

I still wanna check one out at the expo or something. There just seems to be a little skip, or a little catch as I flip it forward. I'm guessing I just need to get some line on it and go from there.

Brooks, thinking about throwing blades with it, or whatever feels good. I really don't have my heart set yet.

What are you guys using for dogs. I'm shopping for a nother reel too. I was using the old calcuttas and those 7000 abus for all techniques and they are all a little past there last leg.

Pretty much the only reel I have working right is a hs toro

Ive got one of my 700te's on a 9' XH Predator and I throw Double 10's,13's and mag dawgs and other comparable baits,The other 700te I have it on a XXH Musky Innovations rod and use it mainly for Pounders. When I feel that I need more speed I have put my Trinidad 16N on my Predator but if I remember right the 700 brings in 35" of line comparable to the 46" of the Trinidad. But with the 700te retrieving double 13's is near effortless. I have thrown them nearly all day with no problem
