Dull Eskimo Auger Blades....Now What?

I have a 2005 eskimo 51 shark auger with 8" turbo Cut blades that Eskimo doesn't make anymore. I have heard that Strikemasters lazer blades will fit but I dont want to dish out $50.00 for blades that might not fit. Well my question is does anyone know a service that will sharpen the blades or if the new stikemaster blades will fit?

i've seen an eskimo top with a strikemaster bottom before. Looked like it just bolted on to me, I don't think there was some sort of conversion done. Maybe somebody else can chime in.

You can grab auger bits on one of those local community garage sale type internet sites for pretty cheap. Might be something to think about if you want a long term solution to discontinued blades --- assuming you can't just put SM blades on the eskimo bit.

Yes, a Strikemaster drill will bolt onto an Eskimo powerhead. They can be a little loose due to the smaller bolt on the Strikemaster drill, but they do work.

If you are interested in a whole new drill assembly, I did some pricing earlier this year and you can pick up a 8.25" Strikemaster chipper drill for about $130. The Strikemaster Lazer drill was $10 more. The Eskimo drill was also $130. You may be able to do a little better now if you can find some clearance sales. I saw the drills sold seperately on the Marine General, Reed's Sporting Goods, and Gander Mtn websites. I assume they come with blades, but maybe something you should check on when weighing your options.

Jiffy won't work because they turn the other direction.

Thanks for the Info guys but I'm going to try to call Eskimo to see if the quantum blades will work or even strikemasters blades will work. I'm not looking to get a whole new auger unit that bolts to the powerhead just new blades. [Note From Admin: Please Read Forum Policy Before Posting Again, Thank You]

I have the same auger. I just took a hand file to the blades. I don't know the name of the file. It only has single fine teeth going at an angle one way.Take your time following the curved side and the flat side is easy.

for sure call eskimo i have a very old shark model they dont make anymore with a single cutting blade. They didnt have the blades for my model but one of their newer models use the same blades on they came in a two pack because the new auger has a dual blade system. esentially it gave me 2 brand new blades so i have a brand new spare waiting when i need it. They were very helpful tracking down what i needed and shipped them out right away.

Eskimo will sharpen them for you. Just call their customer service and let them know you are sending them in.

I do it every year.

They stopped that program...just got an email back from them about it. There is another place though, it's an exchange program... fish307 I believe.

Irishwalleye those blades are for the hand auger. After doing some research strike masters lazer blades will fit the eskimo.$40.00+ shipping seems spendy so I sent my eskimo blades to a HSOforum called dullbladessuck. $10.00 and 24hr turnaround sounds better then $50 bucks for new. I will let you all know how the sharpened blades work when I get them.
