looking for any thoughts and opinions regarding baitcasting reels under $50 to use for spinner baits, buzz baits, slow death hooks, texas rigging & such on a light medium or medium rod & 4-8 lb. line more likely for bass, northern, walleye

There's no reason not to use a spinning rod for the applications and price you have stated. Cheap baitcasters tend to perform marginal at best, especially when working with lighter lures or lures that catch wind like spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. A primary reason for using a baitcaster is they handle heavier lines well, but you intend to use pretty light line: which can be difficult to handle on a baitcaster.

interesting, my lighter line always seems to get tangles up around the bale wire or under the spinning spool somewhere, figured baitcaster would be easier to keep it tighter around spool, maybe its just a personal preference thing, i hate the constant back & forth flipping of the bale line, seems to me half the time the bale wire gets fipped when i dont want it to, figured baitcaster would be easier as all line is inside with only button to push for casting.

I recommend the Abu Garcia Black Max. it is right at $49.99. I use the left hand model and only throw spinnerbaits with it. It handles bass and northern very well.

after rereading your original post. it seems you are talking about a spin-cast reel and not a baitcaster. example of a spin cast is a zebco 33 or 202.

Abu Garcia. If you don't want or can't afford new just grab a used one. They are very, very tough reels. I have a bunch of them and love them. I see you are in Elk River, I'm up the road in Princeton and can show you some I have had for 15 years that are working like new.

If you are unfamiliar with bait casters make sure somebody shows you how to use one, how to dial it in so you aren't getting backlashes.
