pike tactics?

I've just started fishing a lake in central MN and have caught some small northerns(12-16 in.)I've been fishing for bass and caught as many small northerns as bass. How do I know if there are any with some decent size to them in the lake? I can only fish from the shore, so that kind of rules out some options. The lake has alot of shallow bays and backwaters with a ton of lily pads and a healthy population of sunfish and bluegill. Would these conditions hold decent sized northerns? Like I said before, I mainly aim for bass but i would like to switch gears and start catching more pike. What are some good ways to start catching more? Thanks for any help.

The DNR site may show you if there are bigger fish in the lake if there have been surveys. From shore come summer you'll be limited to smaller pike in shallow. I fish a lot shallow with spinner baits, plastic, etc, and catch more pike then bass usually. You might be a ble to find some bigger fish if you can cast suckers to deeper water or weed edges.
