Notcho
I saw a video on youtube where a guy set up a hunting blind on a river and was spearing carp like crazy so it got me thinking... How do I do that??Anyone try this and what do you look for in a spot?
Gordie
I have speared pike on a couple of rivers never carp but what I look for is a hole near by and possibly a creek that comes in to the main river and set up on the slack side of the current seam. I have also set up on a long sweeping curve that has a type of slack water near the main current. Most of all be careful. The ice on the river can be unpredictable especially this year with the weather we have been having.
Jessie_H
We were using hunting blinds when we were spearing off a back water off the rum. They worked pretty well.
fishadb
One thing to remember is not to use your good pike spear for carp. My dad talks about how they used to spear carp with three guys one guy would spear and two guys would walk towards him banging sticks on the ice.
