A bit of waterfowl.

I got bored today so I headed over to Granite Falls to see what I could see. I did see 2 eagles, a hawk and a Pileated Woodpecker, but no shots. I then went downtown to the dam and was surprised at the numbers of geese and mallards hanging around. What surprised me most though was a drake Wood Duck in beautiful spring colors. I've seen woodies in the winter before, but they've always been drab. This one was gorgeous, but he wouldn't separate from the rest of the ducks for a decent shot. Mallard drakes really require optimum lighting to get a respectable photo. My first one here had the ideal lighting, but the rest were marginal. Their green heads are a real challenge. The light came and went today, but most of the time it was pretty dim.
