hi i noticed today it says pump bulb 5 times on run. then move to choke till it fires then move to half choke etc. seemed to start right up 1 pull. usually it takes 5 or 6 times how ever i hold the throttle down till it starts i'm i deafeating the purpose of the choke by holding the throttle down just trying to understand this. only did it once so far started right away. on the shroud it says easy starting 5-6 times to me is not fast i like the auger no complaints just want to know if this is how you start it no throttle or with throttle.

I have a Eskimo with a StingRay motor as well. I've found that if you prime it 3 times it starts alot easier, however, I've found that if it doesn't start in five pulls then if you give it full throttle it will start. I just got some Amsoil Saber oil and that is supposed to make it start easier as well.

It says to pump 5 times, but I hit the primer until the fuel line right next to it is full. That is usually 5 times when it hasn't been run in a while, but if it has been run, it may only take a couple primer hits. Don't hit the primer more...you can flood this engine. And always make sure the selector lever is on "run" when you hit the primer...never hit the primer bulb when it is set to "choke".

And yeah, I usually need to give it a little throttle to get it started. But having said all that, I have always been able to get it started.

I too hit the primer until the gas line is full. If done right it starts on the 1st pull almost every time.

Same here. I was just telling my buddy today how nice it is to start. The only time I've primed it 5 times it flooded and it took me probably 10 pulls to start it.
