Power source for fish finder/GPS on wheeler

I have a graph/gps on my boat that I would like to use on the wheeler to get more use out of it and I think it would be nice to have the larger screen when using the gps. It is an Eagle 642 color with internal gps. I think I need a 12v cigerette adapter for it to hook up either to the 12v plug in on the wheeler or hook up to a 9amp vex battery. What are the pros and cons to this set up? Also how does this type of unit work in the cold weather? Thanks for the help.

I met a guy on Mill lacs two weeks ago that had a big Lowr, mounted between his handle bars and it was very cool to see such a nice big lake map right in front of you. If you have a battery for elc start you should be able to run a cig plug off of that. I did that on my Dual sport bike to run my XOG on my handle bars and it works really nice! wink

I installed an extra wiring harness for the GPS running to the back rack where an extra battery is. The big screen and lake chip is nice. No problems with the cold in 3 years. Originally I tried a cig lighter but the plug would come loose and I'd have to wait for it to restart.

Toba--I just added my HDS 8 to my 2003 Polaris 700 and I found that the cigarette lighter will only provide power while the key is in the "ON" position, so I just added a vexilar battery for power supply, otherwise it will shut down as soon as you turn off your machine.

Good Luck! smile

Have my 522i on a Gentz blue box with a vex battery.

Bungee it to my front rack and take in the fish house when fishing.

This is exactly how I have my 332 mounted. Just on a blue Genz box then I can move it from the front grate to the house easy.
