I feel cursed

Here it is almost the end of January and I still haven't hit the lake with my new wheelhouse. cry I was supposed to head up to Red Lake yesterday and something came up, so this morning I got all packed, got the monster dog in the car, went to hook up the Yetti and the steel cable on the front winch broke!! Disconnected the front hitch assembly and ran into town to see if I could get it fixed, and I am still sitting here waiting for the call that it is done. Will I ever get that big yellow monstrosity on the ice? It seems all winter it has been one delay after another, beginning to think I shouldn't have bought it. I have only cranked that thing up and down about 5 or 6 times.

Brand new and the cable broke, that really sucks.

This was my own fault, there was a 1/4 inch of ice build up that I did not notice when I was cranking the front up. So in my frustration I just kept cranking away to try and get the holes lined up so I could get the pin in. I guess I don't know my own strength.

Like snowmobiles, wheel houses are expensive and rarely used. Hope you get it out soon!

Ya think? I guess it depends on why you bought it. I bought a 6.5-12 empty shell last spring (Soderblooms...nearly identical to a Yetti) and we used it all summer as a place for the kids to sleep at the cabin, then hit the ice at my first opportunity (Dec.20, drove on Red w 17" of ice). Been out about 6 times since, for a couple days each time.

In between, use it as a job/hauling trailer occasionally, and it's there to haul larger items as needed.

Not to mention, i got a great end-of-season price on it:)

Yeah, I guess I'm getting my use out of it!

We also plan on using ours this summer for camping, plus I use it as a sanctuary when I need to get away from the hubby (JK). If the ice would have been better this winter I would have been out a long time ago. I do have the advantage of being retired and can go anytime I want. laugh
