Humminbird seminar, Feb 15th

I hate to sound ignorant here but where is this?

If it is anywhere close I am really interested, I received a HB 597ci HD DI as a gift this Christmas and am very interested in finding out what it will do.

I have one of these on my boat. it is a nice unit. I don't know how much you read about it but here is a brief overview of it. in the tradional 2D sonar you have a option in the menu where you can switch the unit from 200Kh to 455Kh. the down imaging can be set on either 455Kh or 800Kh. the default settings are 200Kh for the 2Dsonar and 455Kh for the DI. this unit can be made into a ice unit but when you do this the down imaging will not work because the ice transducer only works on the 200Kh setting plus for the DI to work you have to be moving. I have my boat set up so that I will set the 2d sonar on the bird to 455Kh and then I run my lowrance X510C(this is only 200Kh). by doing it like this I can have both units on and not have a interference issue between the units. I have also at times turned off the sonar part of the bird unit and run it as just a gps unit then rely on the X510C to show fish and structure. I do use the DI when searching for structure. I may move the X510C to the bow and put my Marcum LX7 on the console next to the bird. run the bird as just GPS and the LX7 as the finder. I am really looking forward to trying the marcum on the open water this coming summer.

If I wanted a seminar, I would talk to the people selling the units in your area to see if they could get one on the schedule. I dont think contacting Humminbird directly is going to do you much good.

Jason Halfen,(walleyes) Doug Vahrenberg, (Bass) put on most of the scheduled seminars for fishing applications I see announced. Dave Poort (Who is a OEM rep for Humminbird) for has been doing the one at Soo Sports, and I expect to see him there again.

I know that Doug is booked up until June with his seminar schedule. One would have to imagine that Jason is the same. It depends on how many they want to do.

You're probably right about that. Maybe I'll contact Gander Mountain and see if they can get a seminar.
