Hot water heater

Question for all of you, i have a full electric (no gas to house) hot water heater that is nearing its 20 yrs of life. last time i drained the sediment, it went on for a while due to our horrible water. So long story short, have any of you used a Marthon type hot water heater? It is a plastic liner with titanium elements and is suppose to cut down on the issues with rotting out etc. Granted they are more expensive but want to put the best i can afford at this point. Any thoughts? Jeff

Where I work we have installed 1000's of hot water heaters. We finally switched to the Marathon because we couldn't keep up with the maintainence of the steel tanked heaters. In my opinion the Marathon will serve you well even at the higher price. Check Menards. Your electric utility may even have rebates.

I put in a Marathon a couple years ago. The selling factors for me was the lifetime warranty against rust through and efficiency.

You will still get some sediment such as hard water deposits, dirt, and such but no more from the inside of the tank as it rusts away. I also think the drainage system is better at removing the sediment by the way the tank bottom is shaped.
