Laker Tatics?

What is your favorite laker jigging tatic and setline bait? I generally fish them similar to walleyes and have had my best luck on big rainbow chubs under a float. Never have had much luck jigging. Just looking for advice on what to use for jigging/setlines and if setting up in a good spot and waiting is better than being mobile and looking for biters is a good game plan.

Thanks in advance

In my limited experience I've done very well on the Lindy Slick jig with a 3" gulp minnow. Caught several on this set up. Also have done well on jigging raps, buckshot spoons or Lindy Rattlin Flyers. I know several who swear by Chubby or Lindy darters as well.

That would be my wife Lisa winkgrin

Her secret method is to drop it down to bottom and reel it up slow. NO Kidding crazy

I have caught a few on the Darters but I like jigging raps as my first choice tipped with a minnow head. The one method I have not tried but will is to use the largest Lindy Slick jig tipped with a minnow. The action on those jigs has to work for Lakers.

Thanks.

Gonna pick some slick jigs and gulp and give it a shot on Caribou for one day. Not a stellar laker destination, but close to our cabin. If they dont cooperate I know the rainbows and splake will on other lakes.

Had to cut the trip short. Only fished half a day on Caribou. No action in 30 to 55 fow. We saw a couple in 12 fow and missed a pretty good one on a bobber. Kinda sucked I didnt have enough time to explore and try to learn something. Gonna have to hit big trout by crosslake and get some practice. Always have great luck on splake sight fishing in 5 to 15 fow and I am going to try it for lakers too.
