Small Diameter Eyelets On Poles..

A Vast Majority Of poles On The Market/ Bait Shops/Etc.. Have Small Eyelets.. I Prefer the Larger Ones .. I Guess They Are More Towards The Fisher People That Strictly Fish By Looking At A Screen .. Small Piece Of Bobber Stop .. I Don't use A Sonar // Depth //G.P.S... I Like The bigger Eyelets Because The Bobber Stop Has Less Slippage Esspecially If Line Has Ice On It .. And I Still Use Floats .. Differant Situations .. I Guess I Am Just Saying For The Price On Many Of The poles .. Bigger Eyelets On More Would Be Ok Too .. Let's Hear Some " Negative " Feed Back .. smilesmile

I don't get it either, but it seems to be popular. I have a TB Perch rod that has by far the smallest eyelets and it will freeze up more so than the others...but the feel is sooooo good! A bobber stop will catch on it if it ices up. It also accepts their little spring bobber that I prefer to use when in a warm house.

I don't mind the smaller eyelets, I just don't like them when they are made of a thin material. Especially the ones that are just wire.

I prefer an eyelet with an insert.

I hate when my bobber stop gets hung up when I'm reeling in.

It may not be the cheapest solution, but Thorne Bros does make rods that have eyelets which are larger specifically for using outside. The recoil guides also help, but add ~$20 to the cost of a custom rod.

Smaller eyelets result in better feel/more sensitive for those who are straight lining their baits. But for fishing outside in freezing temps or using bobber stops they are not the best option. Many manufacturers like thorne bros offer an outside model with larger eyes for such a situation.
