My garage is heated I keep it at about 50. I have a chest freezer which stays right at about -0. Then I have a fridge freezer. The fridge stays at 36. but the coldest I can get the top Freezer is 20. I have the Freezer turned to Max Cold. Also the unit is only 2 years old I bought it brand new.

You can try cleaning the coils on your fridge. Dirty coils will not disapate heat fast enough to allow the unit to cool. If that does not work you can install a garage refrigerator kit. These are small heaters that trick you fridge to make it run longer to keep your freezer colder. Look them up on the net, they are pretty cheap fix.

I'm not a refrigerator guy, but this is my guess. The refrigerator has one set of coils and one thermostat. Normally the cold goes into the freezer part and then to the refrigerator. The thermostat is in the refrigerator. So the passage for the cold air is designed for the case of the unit being in a 70 degree or so house. If it is in a cool area the compressor doesn't have run as much so not as much cold is put into the freezer. (yes I know it is really heat going out)

If the room was at 36 degrees the compressor would never run, and the freezer and refrigerator would be at 36 degrees. I hope that makes sense. I don't know if there are any baffles that can be adjusted to change the flow of air.
