harvey lee
Once again Joe Webb came into the game and looked very well. The Vikes may have the best back up QB in football.
FISHINGURU
Joe Webb didn't get the memo that we wanted to lose lol
LMITOUT
Post game interview he said it was 'a win we needed'. Um, no it wasnt. In fact, it couldn't be further from what you needed and if don't realize that then you should be out of the league right along with Leslie. FISHINGURU
Whoever made the decision to play AP in a meaningless game while he's injured should never work again. He should of sat for the rest of the season and healed up. Not like we needed him and were fighting for a playoff spot.

klecker
Since they didnt game plan for him he should look good. Happens all the time in the NFL. Give a team a few days to prepare and the pitch forks will be out for him to.
simple1
Keep in mind that players have goals to reach individually as well as team goals. Many contracts have incentives that the players would also like to reach for more money. And don't feel too bad about not getting the #1 pick in the draft. Many quarterbacks are supposed saviors only to be sitting on the trash heap at the end of a very costly contract and can set a team back several years. On the flip side there are many QBs that appear to be a bust only to be sitting on top the record books. Drew Brees is a good example of a QB everyone ran out of town in SD. He has done alright since then. Also the talent Gods thought it would be great to let go of Bret Favre in Atlanta, and Tom Brady sat awhile behind Bledsoe. I will wait to see what Ponder is next year. We should see some improvement. If no improvement, then you can start to worry.Simple1

Case in point:Sam Bradford signed a contract for $50 million gauranteed. Cam Newton signed a contract for $12 million over 4 years.Any draft pick can be a flop in the NFL. I would rather take my chance with a top pick. Why are the Vikes trying to win, why is Indy trying to win?
simple1
Yes Cam signed a 4 year deal 22 million guaranteed, and that is a lot less than previous year. I'm am only making the case that Ponder may or may not be the answer, 1 year does not tell you everything you need to know. And teams try to win because if your coach gets fired about half the team does not make it back the next year and free agents will earn less money on the open market from a losing team. Also, most players do not care about some rookie who may or may not make them better. NFL carreers are short and players know this. The other advantage to the new contract structure is it adds trade value to the higher picks with more certainty and lower cost.
