Lakemaster disk question

Recommended Posts

I bought the lakemaster disk for my garmin since it was on sale instead of the chip and have aquestions. First, I have heard that you can download the maps to a memory card to put into the gps instead of only downloading the data to one gps. Is this true and if so how is it done?

Thanks for any help

If you're talking about the disk for a computor I don't think you can do what you want. If you could how would they ever sell chips? Their service and advice is very good though so keep trying.

The data you push to the chip or the internal memory is tied to the unit. When it writes the data to the internal memory or the chip, it embeds data that ties it to the serial number of the unit. If you save it to the chip in a unit that it is tied to, then put the chip into another unit the unit will say that it cannot unlock the maps. I know, I have the CD and have tried it. The CD is cheaper, but you cannot use the LakeMaster data on more than one unit.

I am not sure what can be done if you ever want to transfer your map to another unit (say you loose your unit, or it dies). I don't know if you can unregister your unit.
