And I will help you and say you don't need to turn off the community layer.

There are two ways to add an object/waypoint.

1.) Select "Add to Favorites" - This will add a waypoint and notes to YOUR map/device only, nobody in the community.

2.) Select "Edit Map"(in new app) or "Add an Object"(in old app)- This will add an object such as dangerous area/object, marina, bouy, and yes even a fishing hotspot. This gives you sufficient enough warning about it going public, so those who place a fishing hotspot in the community layer don't have anyone to blame but themselves if there location is overrun.

Can I jump in and ask how you guys like the app for the droid? I don't have a gps but do have a droid and was wondering if the app is worth installing or not. Is there a certain app I should buy that is better then others or should I skip the whole idea and just buy a gps? If that is the case which gps would I want to get for ice fishing? Thanks much.

There are a few other threads that go into detail about this. The overall view is that it is a great app and you can't go wrong for $10. I have it on my Droid and it works great.

for the money you cannot beat the app, its worth it!!! my handheld GPS is only a backup now.If you never plan on fishing anywhere but U.S. then the navionics U.S. is the one to choose but honestly for 5 more bucks the U.S./ Canada Navionics app cannot be beat. If you buy a GPS you will invest a few hundred in the GPS and 100 to 150 for the lake chip in it and you can get all that info in a $15 dollar app.

Love2, buy the app it's $15. I just upgraded to a droid today and that was the first thing I downloaded. This is waaaaay cheaper than any handheld you will find. It's called Marine Lakes USA & Canada. You can USA only for $10. With all the positive reviews from this site I'm confident it's a great buy.

Is the new version different from the old?

I see they have the entire US now, instead of just "North"

Yes the new version is different. 2 apps actually a USA version and USA/Canada. So maps for the entire USA as well as Canada ,Alaska,Hawaii. along with all the additional map data there are app improvements like pinch to zoom among a list of others. and yes its very worth upgrading.

You can download as much or as little of the maps as you want or need.

There is already a thread going about this in the computer forum, but I recommend downloading one map at a time. For some reason if you download the whole metro area for example some of the lakes don't come in with the full HD detail the previous app had. Check out the thread in the computer forum for more information. There are a few steps to fixing a lake that didn't come in right.

I had purchased the "north" edition way back when it was available but recently changed phones. I was bummed that I couldn't download the north version again because it was no longer available but could buy the new US version. This upset me because I had already paid $15 for the first one.

Long story short, last night just for giggles I attempted to re-download the "North" version again and low and behold, it let me.

I know have the north version back on my phone!! The weird thing is, is that it is not listed in the Android market so I don't think they are selling it to the general public but maybe it's just available to those who already purchased it. In any case, I'm excited to have it back in time for ice fishing.

Just gotta say, I purchased this over the weekend and got the chance to use it on a couple metro lakes. WOW! It is AWESOME. I can't wait to bust this out and explore a couple lakes closer to home. This is going to make ice fishing a lot more fun. Now I won't have to wonder exactly how far I am from a hump or point or dropoff.

  • Your Responses - Share & Have Fun :)

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
