StrikeMaster Lazer Xpress

I looked at a used one today and when I pressed the throttle, the speed kept going up and down, rather than running wide open. The guy selling it said that was normal when there is no load on the engine. There is some kind of a governor on it to prevent damage.

That explanation seems plausible, but I have never seen an auger that did this. The guys that I fish with all have older ones.

Can someone tell me, is this expected behavior?

Thanks

I just bought a used one. Blades looked sharp, felt sharp, took it to Strikemaster to have them check it, not sharp for cutting ice. They explained it as the blades have 2 bevels to them, and they really can't be resharpened properly. They don't even sharpen them, they just scrap metal them and put on new ones. Also, if you live near Big Lake, and have questions on a unit, I would recommend stopping in and talking to the guys at Strikemaster. They spent about 10-15 minutes talking to me about the one I just bought, very helpful.
