Anyone use these? How did they work.

I have used a rattle reel exactely like the one HT one shown above. I can not remember though if it was an HT.

Anyway, I use it once or twice a year for the last 3-4 years and have had no problems with it, I actually use two. You do have to use them on a 5 gallon bucket, but that did not create any problems.

I think the Catch Cover rattle reels are much more versatile on where you can use them.

I've got one of those, works well on the portable, but wanted something for early ice. Thought for a whole $6 I'd try the bucket clip one. that way I can put it on the fish bucket while hopping holes. Thought it would be a joke, but looks like it could be the nuts.

Where did you find those? I would love something like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got one at Runnings. I always seen them on the net, but thought they were cheap junk. After playing around with it in my hands, I was impressed with how well it seemed to be built. Figured for $6 I'd give it a whirl

The best advice I have is to mount rattle reels up 2x as high as you think you'll want them. Setting the hook with your bare hands can lead to some nasty free spooling incidents with the reel if there isn't enough room to set the hook.
