Matt Johnson
BDR and myself spent the weekend up on Cass Lake for the opening tourny for the Statewide LETS. We hit the panfish hard and weighed in some heafty limits. We pitched plastics for our panfish, no live bait. We found them under docks and in the cabbage. The crappies were hugging the bottom of the docks, but were eager to inhale any plastic darting in front of them. The panfish relating the weeds were in about 8-9 feet, and we had to look for tale cabbage weeds and drop plastics right amongst the weeds. A lot of fun fishing for those panfish! You can read up more about our tourny here... Recap - Cass Lake, State Wide LETS Here's some pics... Corey Bechtold
Those are some beauties guys! How come just a 6th place finish? Just wondering. What is the points system like for the LETS?
Matt Johnson
LETS is a multi-species tournament and the team with most weight wins. You can weigh in one person's limit per boat. We only weighed in bass and panfish, the boats that were ahead of us weighed in pike, walleye and one boat weighed in a 45 inch muskie. We had too much fun with the panfish Good Fishin,Matt Johnson ------------------Matt Johnson OutdoorsMetro Area Ice Fishing, Team Catch-N, and more... Corey Bechtold
10-4 Matt. I can see why you'd stay with the panfish. Too bad that a couple bigger fish can put you dawn a few places while you guys managed a whole slew of beautiful panfish. They should have it on a points system instead of weight. For example: Walleyes 15 pointsBass 10 pointsPike 5 pointsCrappies/sunfish 2 pointsMuskie 2 points per inch (legal fish)3 large fish (walleye,pike,bass)50 pointsPoints for bonus fish, over a certain length. This would keep it fair and give people bonus points for being good multi-species fishermen. Either way it sounds like a fun get together for fishermen (and fisherwomen).
