Do you carry a handgun while bow hunting?

I always carry while hunting.

One time I had a guy across a lake threaten to come over and shoot us as he was [PoorWordUsage] because we had "his Point" on a public lake. Another time I stumbled onto a half acre pot patch on public land.

The thing I have seen is that people who are hunting in the fall are no more stable in the long run than the average person on the street. The only difference is that they are armed.

I'm with Scoot on 1/2 of his thoughts. The pot and meth operations are in many more areas then you may think. My dad worked for the Forest Service and stumbled along a few operations in the U.P. while working on snowmobile trails. I've stumbled across them in CO while hunting as well. A buddy and I had an experience similar to Scoots while hunting near Bellingham, MN. It was a very unnerving experience not knowing what we were walking into armed with only a knife a piece.

As for the grizz, I would much rather have bear spray while hiking then a handgun. Handguns aren't a lot of use against a charging grizz, but a can of bear spray (more times than not) will stop a bear in it's tracks and have it running the other direction.
