Gettin ready for the hard water season, noticed my auger still had the extentsion on it from last season. Does anybody leave it on all season?? Does it hurt the bearing or anything to use the auger all season with the extentsion on. Just wondering.

I don't think it hurts anything if you leave it on. I find it alot harder to drill holes with it on, harder to move around with it on, and it adds weight to the auger. I only put mine on when I need it, and then I have different ones of different lenghts. Rick

If you like to drill by reaching up that high for no reason then leave it on. But, I would spray it down with some WD40 or the darn thing may just rust on it and you will have to pound it off if you want to take it off! frown

I use two auger,s one I leave the extension on and the other with out. The extension I use in the skid houses so I dont have to bend down so much and it starts out around chest height. The auger with out the extension I use for when I am in the portable out scouting and pounding lots of holes.
