Whats the deal with the vexlair vs marcum and other flashers controversy .

Vex is based out of Mn but the units are made in Japan and imported.. Marcums are built in MN....

I have owned, HB Super 60, Hondex, Clearwater Classic, Vex 8 and a couple 18's, fish next to a 20, own LX-5's now and soon to add a LX-7 and will continue to use them untill someone else catches up and moves ahead of Marcum, IMO nothing else on the market can match let alone beat the LX-5...

Marcum customer service is as good as Vexilar, the 1 issue I had was promptly taken care of even after telling them the unit was bought used...

i have had my Fl8 for years. the only thing i have to complain about in the interference when someone is near me. but i deal with it. someday if it does break down somehow i'll get a new flasher. but for now, it does the job. good luck.

Well thats kinda harsh!!! Im gonna disagree, people have different ideas of whats important to them and guess what each of the flashers or graphs offer something a little different. Those little differences is what creates the divide between people. Im inclined to think we are all fortunate to have such a wide array of quality flashers,houses,rods,reels,heaters,augers,GPS yadda yadda yadda. We live in a good time with the leaps and bounds in technological advancements that help us all enjoy what we love most ICE FISHIN!!!

I think the big 3 all do the same. If I have a Marcum and it works to help me to catch fish than I will brag about my Marcum, but my friend has the Vex and it does the same thing, great for him. They are all awesome and I think they have changed the way we all pursue fish in the winter. Are we all lost without our flashers if we don't have them with us when we go fishing? Definately. we rely on these things even though the old school guys with the bobbers and hand over hand lines are kicking our a--'--.Just my 2 cents
