Fresh fuel is a good start.

Check the fuel lines and that the carb is not loose.

It is common for the diaphragms to become (for a better word) dry during storage.

Since your engine runs for a short time I'll assume your using the choke to start.

Continue with full, partial, and no choke after it starts to keep it running.

If after doing so repeatedly the auger still quits then I'd clean the carb and install a kit.
