steel studs for wheelhouse?

My friend used steel studs in his 8x16. The entire house was framed that way. The original plan was to use spray foam insulation, but he later changed and used 1.5" foam board. Now he has condensation issues. The roof drifs everywhere there is a screw. (It is not bad---just annoying). I also have an 8x16 but it is framed in 2x3. Yes, it is heavier. I used the same foam insulation and do not have condensation issues. We both have the same forced air furnace.

My friend says that if he were to build another house, he would spray foam it and put furring strips on the studs before finishing trhe inside. He believes this would eliminate the condensation issues.

Hope this helps.

I used steel studs and furring strips. The steel is light weight and makes the build easy. I framed and put on the siding. Next step was taking it to a contractor for spray foam. The spray foam really made the house solid. Finally put in furring strips on the studs. Have had zero issues with moisture/condensation.

So we built an 8x16 last yr with the steel studs, then used furring strips and then spray foamed it. Aluminum siding on walls and roof (also put rubber roof on as well). Everything turned out fantastic. Zero issues! Love it! Spend the xtra $$ on the spray foam for sure. Do not cut a corner here. This locks everything up and makes your house extremely rigid and effecient. Just my 2 cents...
