Central SoDak 11/9-11/13 Too Early, Too late or OK

Heading out to Redfield/Doland area. Wonder if there are going to be many birds around? Anyone seeing anything yet in that area?

Still plenty of birds around, but they might start pushing south this weekend when it gets cold. You should be allright, though. There will still be plenty of birds to be had.

Ditto. Should be some nice flocks of mallards coming off of bigger water in to the corn with consistency by then. Our best mallard hunting last fall was the 2nd and 3rd weeks of November for field hunts and ice breaking slough bombing migrators.

The last 3 years in a row Thanksgiving weekend has been by far the best hunting for me. By this time though all small water was frozen and we were hunting large flocks of mallards coming off bigger water or the river just like carpshooter said. I dont think everything will be frozen by the time you are coming, so you'd probably have the option of shooting them over water or in fields. For me its way more fun to shoot them in corn fields, unless of course you are targeting diver ducks.

I doubt you will have any trouble finding birds. Find the big water.... the later in the season the better.
