I didn't read the whole article, so if my comment is way off base, sorry in advance.

If they donated the sweaters, they no longer own them. I'm sorry, but they are not theirs anymore. If they want to see them, they can make the trip up to Toronto. I'm sure that the curators would be willing to give them access to the sweaters at the hall.
