Bipod or not to bipod?

Hi Everyone,

Just getting started with the process of going varmint hunting (been asked by a couple of different guys to go for coyotes and hopefully a trip here and there for prairie dogs). So...in gathering equipment I am wondering if I should invest in a bipod...size, brand, etc. I would assume most of my shooting will be in a sitting position.

So far set up is this: Savage Model 12 varmint in .223 paired with a 6x - 18x scope. This is going to be a heavy rig since it has a bull barrel and the scope has an adjustable focus on it for longer distances.

And...any advice/insight you have in this?

I personally like Bi pods. We use Harris, swivel models. I think they're the S25 model. Should be plenty high enough for you and you can adjust them to be lower if needed.

I tried the harris bipods but I couldn't find one long enough for me (I'm 6'7"). I use shooting sticks, collapsable ones, I looked at the new primos trigger sticks but they were just toooooo spendy
