On Sunday I scoped out a new spot, a little clearing amidts some thick brush and heavily travelled trails. I was going to use my tree stand, but had forgotten it, so I took in my ground blind and brushed it in in preparation for a Monday afternoon hunt. Before I left I baited the site with corn.

I left work as early as I could but could not get out earler than about 4:oo pm. As I approached the blind, I subconciously slowed down in the rare even of an animal on the bait. And what was on the bait but the biggest buck I've seen in years eating up all my corn and not 20 yards from my unoccupied blind. And me with bow in one hand, folding chair in the other and pack on my back, could only watch as it took about three bounds to clear. Adios big buck. But I'll be back.

Do you not know it is illegal to use bait.....? Or were you in another state?
