after buying power auger do many keep hand auger?

I have an HT Arctic Express 7" hand auger that I use on my Ice Gator power head. I just bring the handle with me in case the batteries die or something. Last year the welds to the flutes broke. I didn't notice until I kept hearing rattling when I drilled my holes. Took it to work and had it welded back up.

If you are buying it just as a backup or early season ice use, then why spend $80+ bucks on it?

My first auger was a hand crank 6" HT express. Works amazingly well for a cheap auger...think I paid around $30-$40 at Wally World. less than 10 seconds and you're easily through 6" of ice. After I bought a new Lazer gas unit I kept the hand auger for a spare/early ice unit.

+1 on that if just using it for first ice. Just buy a used Mora on C list and then buy new blades for it.
