Bowhunting

I am looking for spots to bowhunt and i am wondering what type of land i should be looking for deer? mostly river bottom or what? anything will help. Thanks.

Hunt swamps, undesirable by many hunters but deer will be here during the day and will go there during hunting pressure.

Shelter belts, cattail swamps, fencelines, crp fields. Basically look for cover and food, just like hunting anywhere else.

Eastern SD deer can have a pretty big territory, especially the nice bucks. I would look for brushy draws through fields connecting one slough to another. Lots and lots of cattails for the deer to hide in after the corn comes out. There are a few walk in areas around brookings that would be worth scouting for archery set ups, as well as some public land opportunities if you cannot access any private land.
