nige
Heading to yellowstone next year and looking for advise on where to camp. Will be using a tent. All we(wife and myself) are looking for is a campsite that offers a little privacy toilets and showers. I know some of the campsites dont have showers so sites that close to pay showers are ok too. Moose
We went out a couple years ago. We camped in Camping Cabins all the way out. Black Hills and Cody on the way out and West Yellowstone while visiting the park. If you get on Google Earth and put campgrounds in the search engine for places to stay it will highlight all the campgrounds in the areas you plan on staying. We chose to stay outside the park just because we wanted to stay in the cabins and not tent it.
chasineyes
We were out there in August. Stayed in Sheridan on the way out (long drive, left Shakopee at 4:30 AM). Camped in Cody to watch rodeo, then spent 4 nights in Bridge Bay. Nice location but I would only stay in one spot for 2 nights. It was nice being by fishing bridge where they had nice showers for $3 a person. Spent last 2 nights in Tower falls camground. More primitave but for $15 who cares, you are NEVER at your campsite. We had breakfast each morning and were gone from 9am-8pm every day. We saw no bears but everything else. Have FUN!!P.S. MAKE RESERVATIONS EARLY.One other cool thing, the NPS keeps track of when sites fill and most of the smaller/primative sites dont fill until late afternnon. I also think you can use the showers regardless off where your staying.
leech~~
I would send for some info on the parks campgrounds. We have been out there about 5-6 times and there are many campgrounds that you can only stay in a hard sided camper because of the Bears in those areas. So, i would send for info before heading out there. Have fun.
