Wiring some lights...

Da Biggin

Question

I'm attempting to wire some lights into my Frabil Trekker 2. I've read the posts regarding how to run the wire and what not. I'm a little rusty on my electrical work... 7th grade shop class. All of this is to ask about attaching the switch(es, Is it as simple as placing the switch between the power source and the lights or is there some other steps that need to be done to wire these properly? PLEASE HELP!

Normally that is how a switch is wired. But you can put it anywhere in the path the current flows, from the battery through a wire to the light and through a wire back to the battery. sometimes it is more convenient to put the switch in the ground leg of the light. Cars used to do that sort of thing.

Fuse the circuit as close to the battery as possible.

If your running led lights it won't matter if you switch power or ground.

Ground side control is nice for protecting switches in a higher current flow circuit. Since the load of the circuit is already used in in the device the switch never has to be subjected to the heat and arcing of the higher current flow.

Switch placement before or after the load really doesn't matter because series circuits carry the same amount of current through any component in the circuit. Switch can be anywhere on the circuit and the load is the same.

You know what I mean. crazy
