Gordie
Got off the duck slough yesturday and as I walked up to get the truck I noticed a CO checking out another hunter.Well I back the truck down the ramp and a CO was talking with my son and I jumped out to load the boat and The CO says Hey You gotta Goose thats pretty good considering the morning. I smile and say yea the Blue skies sure seem to slow things down for us this morning. He was really intrested in my boat and says we'll take care of bussiness when you pull out of the access so we dont block other s from loading. I pull up and out and acctually park next to his truck and boat with a full blind on it. So he says now its down to bussiness checks our liecences and guns for plugs then pulls out the magnet checks our shells and then say you guys are good. He then says Tell me about this boat I have never seen one like this and thats when you could tell this was a fellow duck hunter as well.We talked about our boats and the mud motors and how they make it so much easier for the hunters and the CO to do what they have to do.I then Asked him if they were hunting this morning also. (There were three of them dress in camo) He said No they just set up the blind and set out decoys and watch the ducks and the hunters.I smiled and he smiled back and says We like watching the ducks work the decoys like you guys do too.He said he had to go you know job duties and I said get talking with ya and see on the slough some other time and he said yep see ya.This was the first time I had ever been checked by the DNR while waterfowl hunting and I just have to say great Job guys keep up the good Work.. luckycrank
goes with out saying... if one doesent do anything wrong/illegal , whats to get upset about? CO's are there for you not for the fun of it , making sure your competition plays by the rules , ensuring the qaulity of the time we each spend outdoors if you have anything negative to say to CO'S your up to no good and deserve a little visit
HNTNBUX
Yep I met those guys too. They were very nice and professional. They pretty much left us alone when my daughters were able to ID every duck in our bag by species and sex. It didn't hurt when we had our licenses out before they even asked. goblueM
sounds like my experiences with COs for the most part. Nice guys, they like doing the same stuff we do. If you're pleasant and proactive with license/guns/game they really appreciate it.
