fishuhalik
ttt, sign me up! 99.9% of my hunting is 0-100yds, so i'll take you up on that. the buck in my avatar is my biggest. not huge at around 125, but i took it at 20yds out of a portable. i rarely hunt portables but found some great sign, played the wind right, and he came out right where i knew he would. i'm more proud of that hunt than if it woulda been a 160" at long range. to be honest, i doubt i'll ever shoot at anything close to the ranges i've talked about, not much opportunity in the north woods unless i'm hunting over a fresh clearcut or my buddy's swamp. sometimes it's just fun to punch paper!to answer the other question, its very consistent moa-2moa (4-8", usually around 6-7") at 400, starts spreading out a little more at 500 (7-11", sometimes 12-13") and at 600yds it really starts wandering. it got one group at 11", but usually its anywhere from 16"-24". happy hunting everyone! TooTallTom
I guess I don't agree with you that a 10-11" group is ethical for trying to take a deer. Cut a piece of string that's 10" long, take it with you to a sporting goods store, and center it on the center of the heart of a deer target and imagine it's a circle with that diameter. There's a lot of bad shots in that circle.
Ufatz
TTT I think we are not making any impression here. You and I will continue to shoot at ranges we deem appropriate, and most others do to, and those who think 4-600 yard shots are necessary will continnue to believe that.I can leave you with this final thought: I have been hunting for a long time and have been around a great many serious big game hunters during my more than four decades in AK, including some names you would quickly recognize. After a great deal of reflection I cannot recall any of them making a shot, at any animal, more than 300 yards away and those were shots at sheep, bedded, in high country. While times have changed and rifles and cartridges have improved, I don't believe any of them whould consider making 5-600 yard shots on anything. A guy has gotta consider the odds.Okay. That is all for me
