SpecialK
Does anyone have experience with these motors? I am thinking about replacing the 1967 9.5 sportwin I have on my 14' semi-V boat. I was curious if you guys thought this would be too heavy for the back (it's 84lbs) or if these things are only geared to be used as kickers on big boats these days? The one I am looking at comes in either a 15" or 20" shaft and I figured if it'll work on my little boat now I would transfer it over to a bigger boat in a year or so as a kicker. What should I be thinking about there? As always thanks,Kyle
FM_Mike
They are not all designed to be used as a kicker. The pro kicker is geared differently than the regular 9.9. They are a great motor, quite, great on gas, no oil mixing, no smell. There is a lot of information on the Mercury web site where you can find all your concerns answered. My brother has a 15 HP 4 stroke and loves it. I have a 9.9 kicker on my boat and also love it. Mike
Northlander
Get a regular 9.9 and not the low thrust kicker and you will be ok.
