new weave in progress

For those interested I posted pics of a homemade jig with a weave I am currently doing, nothing fancy but will hold 130 threads.

Looks good Gary. What kind of foam did you use to hold the threads, and where did you get it?

picked it up at micheals....its like a buck for a 6x8x3/16(thick), then I cut (4) 1/4", 2mm spacing per foam block.

btw this is only my 3rd weave, I loaded 2 colors, the next part I am going to do my name in 2 colors simple color change but technique is the same. If you look at the dragon weave I did, I used black c w/ yellow mederia....problem was the dargon was slightly elongated, this weave I am using black a w/ mederia (which is 40 wt needle point thread) so the pattern thread is slightly smaller then the wrap thread. The nice thing with maderia (if you haven't used it) is there is alot of different colors (which I started using on butt wraps also) but you have to use color preserver because it is coated with silicone (easier use it sewing machines), if you dont use a thread preserver you get cats eye distortion. Plus they come in 1100 yd rolls at a reasonable price.

Also if you or anyone else is looking for a few free weave patterns, the rod building libary has some.....its where I got the dragon and the weave I am doing now desert scorpion.

the posting Scorpion Weave is the finished scorpion.....Just doing my initials after it in gold and maroon....just got the G done (lets just say I won't be doing letters in 2 colors anytime soon)
