TRANSOM HEIGHT??

SRE

Recommended Posts

I have a 1991 crestliner phantom sst 1850 with a 135 mariner on it. I recently came across a used 140 4 stroke with a 25" shaft but Im not sure if it will fit.I've been told all older boats were 20" transoms but Im not so sure. So here is what I do know-if I measure transom where motor is attached it is 20" then transom goes forward about a foot then drops down another 6" to the actual boat bottom. Is this boat considered a 20" or 25" transom? I am kinda new to all this and appriciate any help and input.I would like to find a late 90's/ early 2000's sportfish wich I think are all 25" transom but I dont want to miss the deal on 4 stroke for now. Thanks again.

Thanks guys, you have been WAY MORE help then the dealerships I've called. Until now I did'nt know how to measure what I already have.Im headin to the cabin this weekend[where my boat is] and will do some measuring. If the transom was straight/flat with no setback it would be easy to know the true height.Anything more I can check before I trailer it 300mi? It does cavitate easy now, not sure why. Thanks again.

measure your 135 from where it rests on the transom to the top of the cavitation plate, the flat horizontal pc just above the prop. it will be 20" or 25"

I found some pics here on HSO in free classified boats of a 89 phantom w/ twin 75 yamaha.Voyageur marine site. The pic look like the cavitation plate are level with bottom of boat wich is 26" from top of transom. Is this right? Thanks

Measures 25".I even had a dealer check it and also said it was a 25".Thats good news because the used motor I want to buy will fit
