toyhauler door in wheelhouse?

Hey all-I'm building my first wheelhouse and am debating putting in a toyhualer door in back for a snowmobile as well as moving larger items in the summer. I'm aware that it may make for airleeks and colder sleeping but am wondering if anyone has this and hauls a sled. Do you need a special ramp and are there issues with snow and tearing up the floor. Thanks for any advice.

I built a wheelhouse last year and put in an ATV door. Got the style that is spring loaded and you drop it down - the door is the ramp. Everyone told me that it would make the back of the house cold. The door I got is insulated and came with very good weather striping. Never had one problem with cold drafts or leaks. This includes nights down to -25. However, it was expensive. I purchased the door from the owner of Ice Castle.

How high are these houses off the ground when you lower them? I gotta think not very, or there wouldn't be much point to paying for that axle...

Could you just lower the house (maybe onto blocks) and drive in? Or put a couple of car ramps (or boards) down behind the door and drive in on those?

Do it now other wise you will wish you had. I don't have one in my and wish I did. I wouldnn't carpent the floor if your going to use it as a hauler. Rino or linx to use as a trailer or the do it yourself herculiner. then get a piece of carpet to put down and roll up when you use it for fishing or sleeping. Just make sure you have heavy enough axles to cover what ever your planning to haul.

If your going to put a door on the back, go this route with a single insulated spring loaded door that doubles as a ramp. It seals up tight and is still warm. No need to haul ramps along this way either. You can see these doors on the lodge HSOforum photo gallery also.

I have hauled my mule in mine as well as a snowmobile. 4 wheelers are easier to get in and out, where carbides cut up the carpet if you dont get a plastic runner under them when going in.

Either way the ramp door is by far the better option, less joint area with one door and it will increase your resale over the swing doors too. IMO.

here is a picture of one
