Lund1700Angler
Hi, I am heading up to Mantrap lake to do some musky fishing for the first time this coming weekend. I was wondering if you guys have any tips to success for this time of year? One method I am thinking about is trolling Jakes and Depthraiders. Also, does anyone know the water temp at this lake? Thanks, Lund1700anger
Bass Whacker
I always had the best luck flipping small isolated patches of cabbage for bass. Prolly not what you wanted to hear, but dont be affraid to down size on that lake they seem to respond well to it. I think they are very educated on that lake and switching up lure sizes is just enough to trick them into biting.
ZebraMussel33
Lund,You will enjoy fishing that lake even if the fish aren't going... I have had my best luck using orange colors. Weededges and extended underwater points have produced most of the action for me. Don't forget to get your lure up shallow either... Good luck! propster
We were on it last weekend. They just weren't going for us at all, and it's been tough all year, but it is a great lake to fish. Since 3M owns alot of the shoreline it is not as developed and therefore not as many cabins, jet skiers, and pleasure boaters, which after Labor Day are down anyway. We only saw a couple and they just sank out of sight instead of engaging in the eight. They have to eat sometime though, so good luck. Lots of stuff to fish, and some bonus nice pike that are coming back into shallower water. Temps were 71-72 when we left Sunday morn. Normally this time of year topwater works really well in dim light and cloudy conditions, but that's normally.
WRD
Don't ignore the sunken islands in the big bay on the east side, they can hold some nice fish.
