Salmo Hornets

Mike #1

Question

I just started fishing with Salmo Hornets and although the action of the lure is good the quality is poor, after using it for only one weekend the paint has peeled off, the hooks are very thin and broke away and, instead of using split rings they use a piece of wire. Has anyone else had an issue with this lure?

Send the bad ones in to Salmo they are supposed to have a lifetime guarentee on their lures I believe. I have only had 3 that were bad out of about 45-50. I lose them to snags before the paint can come off or anything. wink Too bad Salmo dont warranty them against snags. grin

I have not had any paint come of the hornets at all.

The only issue I have had was when I fouled with weeds and pulled the lure in and got lazy and slapped the lure against the water to get the weeds off.

Broke 3 lures doing that and Salmo replaced all 3 with no issues at all.

I no longer slap them on the water as it is very hard on them.

Love the Salmo's.

If you want to break or bend your lures, slap them on the water to remove the weeds...Anyone using my lures must remove the weeds by hand, or they pay me for them when the lips break off from smacking them on the water.

Yeah, the hooks are small and thin on the #4 #5. I would suggest upsizing for better results anyway. I do this to all my #4 & #5 when they come out of the box.

I've replaced quite a few hornets for paint falling off...and i don't mind when it is from fish teeth grin. Eyeballs will strip the paint off any lure.

Doesn't run true? Bend the eyelet to fix.

If your still unhappy...send them in!
