metro archery hunt

Metro Bowhunters Resource Base. They organize hunts all around the metro. You need to join (sorry, too late for this year) and apply for the hunts you'd like to participate in. It's a drawing, and some hunts are better than others, so drawing is harder for some hunts than others.

That being said, there are plenty of private property owners in and around the big city that allow some hunting, just be sure to ask permission, and make sure hunting is legal in those areas.

Good luck!

Everyone has a different idea of what "metro" means. AS far as hunting within city limits, it is mostly banned except for special hunts run by MBRB.

As far as getting on the fringes, you need to check with each city or township you want to hunt in. Certain ones allow bows and they have different rules for hunting private property. Sometimes you need written permission and a permit from the police chief. Sometimes its open.

There are a couple of public land opportunities such as WMA's and the Minnesota River Valley. Again, these do have some special regulations since they are getting more surrounded by residential areas. The public land does get hit pretty hard since its open to everyone and its the easy plan. If you are willing to walk farther, you might find a quiet spot, but I'm talking about miles, not a short walk.

Your best bet to have an enjoyable hunt in the metro is to find an outer suburb that is friendly to bow hunters and then find some private land to hunt by knocking on some doors. Some farmers and hobby farm types are open to this, but remember you're probably not the first one to ask.
