Tire Reccomendations- TTB Ford

Recommended Posts

Gonna need new tires for my 96 F-150 AGAIN! mad I cant for the life of me remember when i put the last set on (Wild Country XTX, 265/75 R15) but i know it wasn't more that 25,000 miles ago. Before that it was a set of Pro-Comp All Terrains which didn't seem to last very long either.

Looking for some reccomendations for a longer wearing tire that is still agressive enough to get off the lake in the winter and down muddy feild roads in the spring/fall.

I have been leaning towards BFG All Terrains but dont want to shell out that kind of cash if they are gonna turn into slicks in a year.

Yeah I went for some cheaper off brands a few times on different trucks and weren't impressed with the mileage out of them. It was tough putting up the chunk of money for new BFG's on my F150 about 6 years ago but hey, they've got about 55,000 on them right now and look great for this coming winter, hopefully another one.

I would throw a vote out there for Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10 tires, they are a little more on the spendy side, just like the BFG, but I have a set on my truck with 55,000 miles on them, and the rears tires are probably still at 1/2 tread depth, but the fronts are getting down there, but that is because of lack of rotating the tires on my part, and also have a leveling kit on my 2005 F150. They are a great tire and have actually had tests done against the BFG All Terrain and done better or the same in most cases. I ran them an entire fall of hunting and driving old logging road and ice fishing and rarely had any traction issues with them, in either 2wd or 4wd. Just another option out there for you, as I replace my tires almost every 2 years, as I put on 25,000 to 30,000 miles per year.

If you haven't purchased yet, I bought Firestone Destination A/T's last June for my '07 F150 and if you look at them today you'd swear they were new. I believe I've rotated 3 times. Very smooth ride and excellent in snow and on ice. Good luck!
