Shortening shaft on 4 HP Merc

Are there any options of making my long shaft a short shaft? I want to keep it as a Kicker but it is too long for my boat and what I want to use it for. I know this sounds like a project for someone??? Any one care to enlighten me with options?

What year is it?

Some of the older smaller hp motors had extension kits that bolted between the lower unit and the mid section to make a long shaft a short shaft. Take a look to see if you do.. I'm guessing not.

that is exactly what i had & still not worth messin around with, i bought the motor for 300 & sold it for 600. it was not worh giving a mechanic 250-300 for turning it into a short shaft, just better off reselling & getting what you need imo.
