The show at agate city was decent, a fair amount of vendors with plenty of cool agates to look at. Some had good prices some of course were high. Got to hold a crazy banded 6 pounder found in Iowa. Banded all the way around, It had quartz but it looked like a floater, price? $2,500.

Lots of 1-4 pounders but no big candy stripers.

Met a guy who's boss owns 5 pits and has a personal collection of picked agates. 280 over a pound! Biggest 14 pounds!!! One is a 3+ pound candy striper that I guess is just amazing. The pits are in the heart of agate deposits. Guessing he also has a lot under a pound so suspect he could have the biggest personal picked collection out there. Someday people will be able to see them... The collection could be worth as much as $250k. Wonder how many people have huge agate collections who never go online, go to shows, or even show many people?

There's a sweet peeler in agate city on display found near Two Harbors last month, 10lb 12oz

Bumped into a guy I know at the agate show in Cottage Grove yesterday. He aquired this monster over 5 pounds recently. He said it was found in the early sixties and used as a door stop for some time until somebody figured out what it was lol!

I met the proud owner and caught a glimpse of that agate at the show. Guess it was discovered near Park Rapids.

Same guy had a couple 2-3 pound agates he found this Spring.

Never looked for agates around Park Rapids but next time at in laws cabin may have to look in the water.

My thoughts are it was the most valuable rock at the show both for sale and not for sale.
