boat fishability question

Exciting day! I'm picking up a new to me 2001 Procraft 200 Combo fish and ski boat with 225 merc efi. My boat for 10yrs has been 1985 16' bayliner trophy bass boat with 90 Johns that I can put almost anywhere. I really like fishing bass and muskies out of the small boat. I know I will love the new boat for many reasons. But my question to you that have moved to fishing out of bigger boats, how has it changed your tactics and techniques for bass fishing? Any other insight on owning and operating the bigger boat would be appreciated. It rides on a dual axle trailer with surge brakes. Thanks for your input. Tight lines to all.

Congrats on the boat!

I imagine you had to make decisions on where to fish based upon how choppy the water was in the old boat so the new boat may allow you to have more options that way. I'd recommend gradually getting used to the speed and handling of the new boat. Depending on what your experience level is "gradual" could vary some.

Congrats! I moved up to a "Big Boy Boat" three years ago. Went from a 1980 14 ft Lund glass john boat to a 1996 Crestliner 1750 FH. My biggest change was that before, I would anchor up to a spot and work it over pretty good before moving on down the milk run. Now with a TM up front I am "running and gunning" almost exclusively. It also makes for better angles for pitching topwaters into spots. I also quit anchoring up offshore and fishing for walleye. I think I've dropped anchor twice since I owned the boat. I found out that it takes a lot more rope to keep a 17 ft 6 in, 93 inch beam boat in place than a 14 ft, 60 inch beam one. Good luck!!
