Ctrl_Alt_Dlt
I will be in New Ulm next week for a few days for a work training. Curious if anyone knows of any lakes in that area that produces a descent amount of bass. I plan to bring my canoe and fish during the evening hours.Thank you. NTW
Nothing over there...I'd leave the canoe behind and fish the banks of the river. Never know what you might catch.

Ctrl_Alt_Dlt
Good to know. I saw the river on the map. Any good areas to fish for walleye or catfish on the river?
NTW
I'm not too familiar with what is in town but I grew up fishing a stretch closer to Mankato. Great fishing for both eyes and cats. I know there is a community hole on the NW side of town but don't remember what it is called.

RuddyDuck
If you want to try for some Bass by New Ulm, just head over to lake Sleepy Eye. It's right in the town of Sleepy Eye. It's just 11 miles west of NU on Hwy 14. It has some nice fish in it. A canoe would work nice. It has shallow structure and some deep weed edges. It does have a public access also. Sometimes it gets weedy, but it should be good by now. I haven't been there this year though. It also has alot of sunnies and some pike. If you fish the river in NU, there are two main spots from shore where people fish. By riverside park on front st. and Minnecon park which has the main boat access. Always the chance for a bigh walleye or a smelly sheephead.Good luck and let us know how it went.
Ctrl_Alt_Dlt
Fished on the cottonwood river. We camped near there. Spent about 6 hrs on it on and off and caught some channel catfish mostly along with some Smbass, walleye, silver minnows, and sheephead. Thanks all!
