Lane
I am looking to mount a snow plow on my 2007 Arctic Cat 500. Unfortunately I don't know much about plow brands or different mounting options. If a guy wanted a good plow with a quick release mounting system, what brand should I be looking at? I have Gorilla winch already mounted and ready to go, just need some direction on the best plows, mounting systems (traditional under chassis system or suspension mounted) and or resources in the northeast metro area. Any information is much appreciated. You guys all seem pretty knowledgable, throw it at me.
ARROW 1
I have a 06 700 and I put a moose utility plow on it and I like it. Very easy to install with a low profile mount plate under chassis. Less then 2 min plow hookup. Go to there HSOforum and type in your zip code. There are a buch of dealers in the area.
minneman
I have zero complaints with my Cat 60" plow easy on /off
Glock
I got a Warn on my 2004. Easy to get on and off. I have the straight blade. I see there are some made like a snow plow blade where it rolls off. If your driveway is long it might be something to consider.
RuddyDuck
I have the standard Warn 48" Plow. It's worked fine for me. Easy to get on and off. Wasn't too expensive either.
DRH1175
I have a Eagle and love it. Moose make a pretty good plow as well. Those 2 seem to be the toughest. There are also many who like there warn plows. One thing I will add is make sure it is wider when angled than your tires. I went with a 60" on my honda 400 and it works great! I went with the full push tubes because the new front mount didnt fit my 1997. And it works good. But I would defintily go with front mount if my wheeler worked with it. birdswacker
I've got a moose county plow. I think it's better than a regular plow because it's taller than most others which is good if deeper snows happen
Dave S
BOSS is also making a good ATV plow. They can be a little on the expensive side. My second option would be the County Plow style of blade as mentioned earlier.
1johntimm
I've owned both Eagle (Tusk) and Moose Plows. Both 60" county plow blades and I think the Eagle Blade is tougher than the Moose although I think the Moose push tubes are tougher than the Eagle mounting system. I've broke them both several times, but the Moose blade is shot after 2-3 winters of plowing. The Eagle blade lasted up until I sold it. The Eagle mount on the other hand broke alot. riverwader
For those of you with Eagle mounts try the motoalliance mount instead. you may have to do a little grind to the mount but it blows the eagle mount away with the strength. Motoalliance on the left and eagle on the right.
Bellasdad
I have a 5' State Plow on my '07 Honda Rubicon, and I have been thoroughly impressed with it. It has a flared right side that is like the plows you see on the interstate, and throws snow very well. Works much better than a 4' Moose that I have used before this one. It is 3 positioned, winch controlled, has a heavy rubber deflector on the top edge, and is very easy to hook up with just two set pins underneath and the winch hook on the front. I have plowed up to 14-16" of snow on our cabin access road - drifted and somewhat hardpacked - for about 650'. It is some of the most fun a big boy can have in the snow. I have never used chains on my tires while plowing, which is my next investment; I can't even imagine what that will do with this. Got mine with my rig from HH in St. Cloud, so I don't know what the mounting plate difficulty is or isn't. Good luck.
